About us
|
The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Scotland received kennel club recognition in 1987, after a number of years running fun and educational events. Since the formation of the club we have had only three secretaries and a very stable committee (after over 20 years we still have founder members of the club serving on the committee). Over the years we have promoted Bernese welfare in Scotland through the club shows, seminars and our club Magazine. We also support other clubs and dog welfare through club donations. The club has managed Bernese Rescue in Scotland over the years and to date we have been very fortunate to work alongside other Bernese and dog rescue organisations.
Our normal years events include an open show and Christmas party but our main event is the Championship Show Weekend held at Kelso in the Scottish Borders. The weekend consists of Caravan and camping throughout (with all mod cons), the Championship show on the Saturday followed by an evening of entertainment with buffet. Sunday we hold a companion dog show and fun events, obedience, working cart course, decorated carts and lots of fun for all. Throughout the weekend we are entertained by our resident Scottish piper Murray. Carter's from all over the U.K. play a vital role in the proceedings on both days. All of this makes it an event not miss.......
P.S. This year we had a visit from the Kennel Club's field officer, apart from giving the show an excellent report one of her memorable comments were "This is not just a show this is an event to be proud of" |
